Reflection Paragraph on Findings

Searching for different types of information throughout my speech was frustrating at time , but was worth the effort that I put in to it. This was my first real research that I did by myself and I am very proud of how my work has turned out. My work that I had put a lot of robust energy into looks and feel successful to me. At the first beginning of my research I did not know what to do are how to get started so that my research could catch people’s attention ,but with the help of the research guide I was given, I managed my way through with outstanding progress. Throughout my research I have found a variety of important facts concerning my topic. Some important facts that I learned about my topic is that only forty five percent of African American students and thirty nine percent of Hispanics in south Carolina graduate on time according to the high school dropout rate report. Not only these specific races, but other races dropout because of some many reasons. The main reason is because they are not motivated and have no one to push them for an better education. They have no goals sought for their selves in life and find the work at school to be pointless to them and because of this only fifty five percent of south Carolina high school students graduate on time. this means that every student will not graduate with their appropriate class. Another important fact that I learned is that South Carolina has the highest dropout rate and it continues to climb for the worse, we rank dead last in the country. The most surprising thing that I have learned is that when you say you are ready for college you are not really academically prepared for the course work that is given, according to the study of the U.S. Department of Education. Another thing that was surprising that I learned according to research was that thirty percent of first year students at a four year university and forty two percent of students at a community college must take at least one remedial class, and only seventeen percent of students who take even one remedial reading class at college are likely to get their bachelor’s degree. After all this research finding that I have done it still leaves me with one question. Will majority of teenagers ever get serious about their education and will the teenage dropout rate ever change for the better? I feel that my topic is a start to many opportunities and a attention grabber, but people need to pay more attention and brainstorm more ideas for teens to have a superb future.
